British treatment of German Subjects and Prepárty
in China.
***S
(Memorandum by Mr. A.M.Townsend).
The Germans at Hongkong were interned on Stone Cutter Island Situated in the middle of the Harbour, where there are no Chinese prisons. In autumn the climate is most pleasant: residence even in lightly built shelters. The Hongkong autho- rities would see to the senitary arrangements being right, British liquidators or supervisors were put in charge of German firme, but I do not believe their books would be destroyed.
This letter no doubt refers to a Report from Hongkong to Sanders Rehders Co., London, of which we saw a copy last wook and which I suggested should be sent to the Governor of Hong- kong, who could then trace the writer and report,
